All Mixed Up

By Michael Day

Hi. I have a confession to make, I've never trusted politicians and now, I doubt I'll ever view anything political the same again. I want to cry but I can't. I want to scream but I don't want to be like my neighbors downstairs last night. It's one thing to make jokes about politicians, but it's something totally different when I don't think I'll ever believe another word that comes out of The White House, The President, The Congress...no matter who they are. It seems to me that running the "business of the country" is nothing more than a rigged chess game.

On top of the "White House in Crisis", I've found myself begging God for some direction lately that I'm apparently not ready to hear. My emotions swing from anger to indifference, from a sense of pain to cold apathy and I've caught myself thinking that I'm above all of this. That we're above all of this. Or, sometimes, that this is what America deserves. Maybe some people will get what's coming to them.

----Psalm 32 says...
"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not charge his account
with iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned in the drought of summer. Selah."
I acknowledged my sin to You,
and my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,'
and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah."
.....You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah."
Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
which have no understanding,
which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
else they will not come near you.
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
but he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him..."----

Should my main concern and point of grieving be centered around the sin and deception of our President? Pastor Scotty Smith of Christ Community Church said, "Is there anyone's sin that you are aware of and hate more than your own?" Wow.

What about my sins, my deception? What about your sins? Have I been...have you been so focused on the sins of someone else, that I...that you, have not seen or even dismissed our own iniquity? I'm not saying that Clinton should finish his term as commander and chief, I'm saying that I have hated Clinton's sin more than my own. Have you?

In verse 5 of Psalm 32, David says "I acknowledged my sin to You, and [I came clean]. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,' and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah." Yep, He forgave, He forgives, and He will forgive. Double Wow..
