Are You a Firecracker or a Bullet?

By Pastor John Dash

I feel compelled to share something with you that God has stirred in my heart. I was asked a question in prayer that I feel is beneficial for everyone to consider. The Lord asked me if I was a firecracker or a bullet. I took this question and immediately began to study. I was first led to Proverbs 3:6 in which it states, In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Please understand that although both firecrackers and bullets take the same amount of gun power, a firecracker lacks direction and a bullet is useless without it. I've seen so many born again men and women of God live out their life with no direction and in doing so, they never get the chance to know what it feels like to hit the target God has for their life.

As I continued to study and seek answers, I came across Ecclesiastes 10:10. It says, If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct. We know there is no way to have direction without first having wisdom. This scripture speaks of an edge similar to that which you'd find on an ax. An unsharpened or dull ax seems to accomplish nothing working only to bounce off the wood. Without direction, you and I do the same thing with our lives. We have situations that present themselves in our lives and in our best attempt, we use all the faith, love and compassion we can come up with. Then we watch as our efforts bounce off and have no effect. We are acting as firecrackers trying to make an impact on a boulder.

When we think of a firecracker, we imagine a loud noise that gets everyone's attention and smoke as a result of the explosion. But with all of the commotion associated with it, it's amazing to realize that there's no lasting impression. A bullet, on the other hand, is a totally different situation. When a bullet hits it's target, it always leaves a lasting impression. It is many times responsible for completely destroying the target. There have been enough firecracker Christians! God needs his men and women willing to be the bullets he created us to be. In the time we live in now, noise is no longer enough. We need to aim at, hit, and conquer the mark that God has just for us. There are so many men and women ordained from the beginning of time that are equipped to touch this generation, but will never be able to with the firecracker mentality. We must seek and yearn for direction in our lives and rejoice when it is bestowed upon us.

Firecrackers and bullets were created for different purposes altogether. The first is for amusement purposes only where the latter is for anything but amusement. Picture a hunter going to the woods to bring home dinner armed with a handful of firecrackers. What odds would you give him to be successful in his quest for food? Now when he begins taking his gun and a pocketful of bullets, the odds increase dramatically that the need will be met.

I believe that this message from God is sent to you because there are situations where you've lacked direction. My prayer is that you'll grab this anointing and run with it. What an awesome impact we could have on this generation if people would realize their God-given potential! Please understand that you were born at the time God needed you to be because you can make an impact for his Kingdom. God knows everything and is surprised about nothing that is going on in this world. He placed you here for a purpose. Together, we can make a difference, but only when we have direction. One bullet is worth more than 1000 firecrackers.

I want to thank you so much for taking time and letting me share this good news with you. If you have not already received this message on cassette, you can have it at no cost to you. Just drop a note with your address and I'll mail it to you.
